Overcoming The Storms of Life

Sometimes in life, you will find yourself in situations that no one but God can help you get out of. You’ve looked to the right, the left, the front, and the back, but yet, there is no help. You’ve called close friends and family for support, but they can’t help you. You’ve had everyone in the church pray for you but yet, nothing seems to be happening. You’ve sent out prayer request to every ministry, but yet, nothing still happened. You’ve been to several prophetic meetings where everyone else received a word but you didn’t. And now, you have conjured up a variety of emotions—anger, frustration, bitterness, confusion, doubt, and guilt. You’ve prayed and cried but yet, you are still not getting your breakthrough. You have reached the end of your rope and now you are ready to give up.

When you surrender yourself to God, you put yourself in a position for Him to use you anyway He chooses to. Your circumstance is only setting you up for a miracle. You may have been praying for a miracle but didn’t understand that in order for a God to resurrect something, it must first be dead. In other words, you are at the end of your rope with no hope left. People have talked about you and lied on you. You may have recently lost your job or having intense marital and family problems. You may be having difficulties in school that overwhelms you. Or maybe you are sick and all the doctors have given up hope on you. People will give up on you but not God.There was a man in the bible by the name of Lazarus whom Jesus loved. One day, Jesus received a message that Lazarus was sick. When he received the news, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it” (John 11:4).

Jesus later received another message that Lazarus was dead. His disciples ponder why He didn’t leave after receiving the message. What they could not see is that when you have faith, regardless of how long your circumstance may be dead, it is never to late for God to resurrect it and nurture it back to life. When Jesus arrived in Bethany (He was in Jerusalem about 1 miles walk), he found out that Lazarus had already been dead for four days. However, Jesus knew that Lazarus needed to die in order for God to get the glory. “When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go" (John 11:43-44). God Almighty is always in control even when we are not. His word gives us hope: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).

The same Jesus that called out Lazarus from the dead can call your situation back to life. The trials and tribulations you go through is nothing but God flexing His muscles to let the world to know that He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the First and the Last, The Beginning and the End, the Alpha and the Omega, the Almighty, Omniscience, Omnipotent, and Omnipresence God. Your greatest miracle usually comes before your greatest trials and tribulations.
