Without Faith - It Is Impossible To Please God Part 2

Why Do We Need Faith? In order to please God, we need to have faith. Have you ever wonder why out of all the things that we can do to please, God faith is the only one that the Bible mentions that we need to please God? How come the Bible didn’t say that we need Joy or patience in order to please God? The reason why the Bible says that is because Faith is needed in everything that we do.

Lest say that a person is struggling with a sexual sin and need God to deliver them. If that person really wants to be delivered, one of the prerequisites to their deliverance is having faith that God has the power to deliver them. Without having the faith that God has the power to deliver them, they will fall back in their sin.

Most of the blessings that God has promised you, you will need faith in order to get them. Throughout the scriptures, we see how faith changed the lives of men and women. Abraham is a prime example. God tested his faith several times:

(1) God told him to go into a land that He was going to show him.

That was a big step of faith for Abram (His name was Changed to Abraham) because In order for him to get to that place; he needed to trust God and God alone. There are some things that God will speak to you and you alone and nobody will be able to understand it. One thing to remember is that whenever God speaks to you; don’t let people’s opinions stop you from being obedient to Him. Like my Dad once told me, “Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him.” The rewards that you will receive for your obedience will be greater than what you went through to get it. When God speaks to you, you need to stop worrying about how things are going to happen because the moment you start doing that, in essence, you are taking the place of God; something that no one can do. (Scripture Reference: Genesis 12:1-7)

(2) Because of Sarah’s barrenness, they were unable to have a child.

However, God appeared to Abraham and told them that they would have a child. Both of them could not comprehend this in their finite mind. Because of their age, the bible said Sarah ‘laughed.’ She laughed because according to her biological clock, it was impossible for her to have a child. Both of them were very old in age, almost 100 years old. I can understand why it was very hard for them to believe; There are some people whom God has given the same promise He gave to Abraham and Sarah, but because of their unbelief, their blessing is still tarring.(Scripture Reference: Genesis 18:1-15).

Having Faith is like equivalent to being pregnant. During the infancy of your pregnancy, things are not as challenging. Even though I have never been pregnant, I know of others who have and one of the things that most pregnant women say is that around the third trimester, when the baby is tired of staying in womb and wants to come out, all hell seem to break loose. The same thing happens with your faith. When you are pregnant with a promise, before that promise come to pass, everything around you will get very confusing and discouraging.

(3) God told him to sacrifice his only son Isaac.

Can you imagine what must have been going through Abraham’s head at that time? I know that even though he believed and was obedient to God, there was a part of him that wasn’t very sure if he was doing the right thing. This was very hard for him because Isaac was his only son. God did not only do that only do that to test Abraham’s faith but to also give the world a preview of what was going to happen to His son Jesus Christ at Calvary.
